Carbon Pricing: A Win-Win Solution for the Climate, the Economy, and Social Justice?
In an article published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Stéphane Zuber, CNRS Research Director at the CES, and his co-authors show how carbon pricing, combined with redistribution, could support the global energy transition while improving well-being and reducing economic inequalities.
The proposed solutions include either applying a uniform global carbon price combined with moderate financial transfers to the poorest countries, or agreeing on country-specific carbon prices with national redistribution of the revenues.
